The U.S. Amateur Championship is the nation’s oldest golf championship dating back to 1895. Past winners of the U.S. Amateur include Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The last time a U.S. Amateur was contested in Chicago was in 1997, when Matt Kuchar was victorious at Cog Hill.
This summer, the 115th U.S. Amateur Championship will be contested over the North and South courses of Olympia Fields Country Club. Competition will begin on August 17, when 312 of the world’s best amateurs will battle to reach the match play portion of the championship. Match play begins on August 19 with the low 64 players from the stroke play portion of competition.
